As the tour continues following the traditional route of the Road to Hana, be prepared to see unforgettable views of the jungles, waterfalls, sea cliffs, and volcanic peninsulas that make this region so incredible. Following the coastline, the jungle will become much more dense as you approach the small town of Hana nestled in the rainforest. Around the backside of Haleakala, enjoy views of Kaupo, Ko’olau Gap, the Seven Sacred Pools, Charles Lindbergh's grave and much much more. The inside of Haleakala’s central crater is an otherworldly landscape with massive iron oxide cinder cones that reach over 1,000 feet into the air. As your pilot follows the West Maui coastline back towards Central Maui, you will be treated to views of the resorts in Kapalua and Kaanapali as well as beautiful and historic Lahaina Town.Īfter flying over the now overgrown sugarcane and pineapple fields of Central Maui, your pilot will ascend the gentle slopes that lead to the peak of the world’s largest dormant volcano, Haleakala. Highlights of the West Maui Mountains include the Wall of Tears and Maui’s tallest waterfall which is Honokohau Falls. Steep volcanic ridges covered in thick vegetation reach towards the sky and in between those ridges lay miles of jungle valleys. After lifting off, your pilot will head to the interior of the West Maui Mountains, which could be described as a misty wonderland. Be sure to arrive at the Kahului Airport 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time to check in for the flight and meet your pilot.
